Read course content through the API
The reviewed public v1 course API provides read-only access to the caller’s own courses for import workflows. Confirm course availability and API deployment before integrating it.
| Method | Path | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| GET | /api/v1/courses | List the caller’s courses |
| GET | /api/v1/courses/{course_hex} | Read a manifest |
| GET | /api/v1/courses/{course_hex}/files | List course files |
| GET | /api/v1/courses/{course_hex}/files/{file_hex} | Read a file’s source content |
| GET | /api/v1/courses/{course_hex}/archive.zip | Download a course archive |
Use X-API-Key. The reviewed scope requirement is courses:read. A manifest request with content=true embeds file bodies; without it, the default returns specifications and file metadata.
Import sequence
Section titled “Import sequence”- Discover the course through the list endpoint.
- Read its manifest and inspect the file metadata.
- Fetch the needed source files, or request the archive.
- Validate paths and content before importing into the destination system.
The source-file endpoint is not a rendered PDF, Word, or PowerPoint export endpoint. The API returns source content for LMS import. These routes do not create courses, and access is scoped to the caller’s data.
